Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante is confident that Coventry City Football Club have the capacity to play against top European football standard after narrowly missing out on a win against Tottenham Hotspurs.
He said this after scoring in Coventry City’s 2-1 loss to Tottenham in the third round of the Carabao Cup with Spurs scoring two quick late goals in the 88th and 92nd minute respectively to bag the win.
Thomas-Asante’s goal in the 63rd minute was his second goal for Coventry since joining the club prior to the 2024-2025 season from West Bromwich Albion.
After describing the experience against Spurs as “bittersweet”, Thomas-Asante added that his team’s performance against the UEFA Europa League team showed Coventry can play against the best. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“Even in the second half we came close, and even when we were one nil up we could have got two or three. It is something we want to make an improvement on. It is a mentality thing and I think it is within us.”
“It is good to know we have the capacity to play like that against top European standard competition. That is the standard we want to push onto.”
